Phone holder for the car: which mount is right?
In the car, a car phone holder is not just convenient but also relevant to safety: your smartphone stays at eye level and the navigation is easy to read without you having to pick up the device. There are three common types of mount:
Air vent: The clip hooks directly onto the vent slat. Quick to fit, no adhesive, no residue. Ideal if you sometimes want to take the holder into a second car.
Magnetic mount: A metal plate is attached to or inserted into the case, and the smartphone then sticks magnetically to the holder. Particularly practical for inserting and removing it with one hand.
Suction cup: Attaches to the windscreen or dashboard and can usually be adjusted in height and angle, often with a longer swivel arm for individual positioning.
Phone holder with wireless charging
One type combines both: holder and charging function in one. The smartphone is attached magnetically and charges wirelessly at the same time – no extra charging cable, no plugging in on every journey. If you navigate regularly and use a lot of battery, this solves two problems at once. Find out more in our article on Qi2 and wireless charging.
Phone stand for table and desk
Not every holder has to go in the car. A phone stand for the table props your smartphone up at a comfortable viewing angle. That is practical for video calls, cooking from a recipe or watching series. Unlike car holders, a desk phone holder needs no installation: simply set it up and place your device in it.
An alternative for a secure grip on the go are grip holders, which are stuck to the back of the case and hold the smartphone securely in one hand.
